Foundation and concealer all in one product? Well the Essence Camouflage 2in1 Make-up & Concealer is just that!
I was extremely excited when I received this new foundation from Essence. I mean a foundation that has a concealer in and provides you with high coverage sounds amazing right? Well I tried this foundation out and here is what I thought.
So firstly a bit about this product. This foundation was created to combine the best of a concealer and foundation to give you a long lasting look, hide all skin imperfections and leave you with a matt and flawless finish without a mask effect.
This foundation has a really nice and creamy texture which makes application very easy. One thing that I noticed is that a little bit is all you need. I needed to apply a lot less than I normally do with my other foundations. So needless to say the first time I applied this with the amount of product I normally use, I had to remove it and start over. So using less will make this product last nice and long!
I applied this as I normally do with my makeup sponge and I was so impressed with the finish. It gives you the high coverage and a matt finish, which I really love. My skin imperfections were covered better than I could dream of and the finish looked really great.
Halfway through the day I noticed that my foundation looked strange. The foundation made my skin look powdery and it had come of in spots and left a powdery mess. At first I thought I applied it wrong or that I’m just having a bad skin day, but after the third time of this happening I was not so impressed anymore. A patchy and powdery look was not what I was going for and this left me extremely disappointed.
I only use Essence foundation and I’ve never had this issue before, so I was really let down by this. I was really excited about this foundation and it did give me incredible high coverage. So instead of throwing it out, I decided to try something else. Instead of using it all over my face, I simply applied it as a concealer on my under eye area. This hides any dark circles and acts as a high coverage concealer. After applying it I add some fixing powder over it and use another foundation on my face. Using it like this seems to work for my skin!
Overall this seems like a lovely product and I’m not sure if it’s just not right for my skin or if there’s another problem, but using a little bit as a concealer seems to work for me! You can get this product for R79.95* recommended retail price
